FOOD FOR THOUGHT is a three-day commemorative liberation festival on Dam Square in Amsterdam that focuses on KETI KOTI. The 2025 edition will take place on Friday 27 June, Saturday 28 June, Sunday 29 June and the commemorative performance on Monday 30 June. FOOD FOR THOUGHT is packed with culture and education, with the award-winning theatre performance Het Proces Socrates as the main act. The monologue by Patrick Mathurin, featuring his own live reggae music, and guest performances by rap and poetry, will be performed at the start of each festival day in the form of a commemorative performance and serves as a new way of commemorating. This will be followed by an exploratory dialogue every day, each time with a different topic. After this, the liberation festival will start every day. There will be an amazing music programme by live artists and DJs from various genres (Caribbean, Kompa, Latin, HipHop, Reggae, Jazz, Bigi Poku and more). At the Food Court a wide variety of (soul)food stands and raised bars with terrace. This event aims for education, enrichment, connection and entertainment so that everyone feels at home at the commemoration and liberation in the city center. At this event everyone has a place. The event has an open character and is freely accessible.
